One of the 1,964 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Years Limited Edition vehicles will have the honor of serving as the pace car at this year’s NASCAR races at Homestead-Miami Speedway. At the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races, onlookers will have a chance to see the special-edition Wimbledon White 2015 Ford Mustang lead the pack to the green flag. The Ford Mustang and its symbol is one of the most recognizable in the automobile marketplace.
Ford CEO Mark Fields will pilot the 5.0-liter, V-8-powered 50 Year Limited Edition Mustang to open the Sprint Cup, while vice president of U.S marketing, sales, and service, John Felice will take the reins for the Nationwide Series race. “Ford Mustang inspires passion like no other car,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development. “The visceral look, sound and performance of Mustang resonates with people, even if they’ve never driven one. Mustang is definitely more than just a car – it is the heart and soul of Ford Motor Company.”
The 2015 Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition debuted at the 2014 New York auto show to honor a half-century since the smash premiere of the 1964 Ford Mustang at the same locale. Unique trim package changes include chrome trim for the grille, windows, and taillights; a faux chrome gas cap in the rear fascia; louvered quarter windows; and 50 Year Limited Edition badging. Inside, the special-edition Mustang boasts a leather interior with cashmere stitching, unique floor mats dolled up with cashmere and suede, and a special aluminum dashboard trim.
